Today as I write this blog, I'm reminded of the last 8 years I've spent here at Palm Valley Church. After High School, I moved to Texas and enrolled into a distance education program that awarded me with a certificate for ministry. I am proud to say, I have given my all and done everything in my power to do the best I can, with what I was given. I have seen friends, staff and the congregation grow numerically, spiritually and relationally.
I have seen a traditional denominational church change to non-denominational church and have observed people's response to change. We as people do not change well. We like our same parking spots, our coffee is made the same way and we drive the same routes to work. We are a habitual people who enjoy things we can control. The things we often can control bring comfort to our egos.
What if you give up your right of control and allow to be led again, like a little child?
What if we really followed what we believe to be right? What if we forsake the comforts of life and take on a nervousness and excitement of the unknown? I have no idea what the end of my life will look like. I have no idea what my obituary will say or how many kids we'll have. I don't know who will cross our paths or what terrible circumstances we'll have to face along the way, but I'm okay with that.
These statements encourage me and prod me to make an impact for Christ sake.
If you could jump ahead 10 years from now, what would you read about yourself?

Go get 'em Nate.
ReplyDeleteThe years seem like they have been good to you brother, starting off in a little chuch in a small town and even there you impacted so many lives. To this day people are changed because of you, people who never had God in their life now look to him daily because of the selfless work you and your wife have done. There is a special place in heaven for yall. Keep selflessly serving the lord and he will keep blessing you. I hope i can look back 10 years from now and see that i impacted one person the way you have done to many.
