Love is not easily angered

I heard a really challenging message today. I don't take myself to be a very angry person. I guess we can ask my wife the truth. Anyways, I know I get frustrated. From driving to expecting things to work out the way I planned them, my patience gets tested all the time. And I fail. Just the other day, I was fishing with some family friends. As I was putting some of the new equipment together I just bought online, I noticed it didn't work the way it should have. I spent enough time on it to frustrate me. You could see the peak of frustration as parts were flying through the air onto the ground. The friends of mine stepped back and were silent. It was now awkward, but my frustration clouded every bit of judgement I had. I didn't know they were scared. They told me later that day and I hung my head in shame and ask for forgiveness.

In the moment, all that mattered was an action of anger.

I didn't think of the ramifications or of those around me. I was messing up the whole fishing trip.

So, today in church. A message to convict this wicked heart and renew a clouded mind.

Love is not easily angered. A sentence like that drives the point home pretty clear, but wait there's more. Proverbs 29:11, Proverbs 14:9, and Ephesians 4:26-27. All these scriptures describe ways to handle anger. I needed handles. I wouldn't have been a spectacle that scared my friends that day.

How about you? Are you easily angered? Are there ways you could act differently?
